Tbilisi to open French Institute

Official opening of the French Institute will be held in Tbilisi today. As the French Embassy in Georgia told Trend, the French Institute became a worldwide agency for holding cultural events abroad as of Jan.1, 2011.

The Institute in Tbilisi is among the first 13 French institutions to be open to the world.

The French Institute in Georgia serves the promotion of French culture and the development of Georgian-French cooperation. It will continue the work that the Alexander Dumas French Cultural Centre and Culture and Cooperation Service of the French Embassy have continued to supervise, particularly, the promotion of the French language, training for teachers of French language, holding events within the Francophone Days and collaboration in the sphere of art and other cultural areas.

The opening ceremony of the French Institute will be attended by the French ambassador to Georgia, Eric Fournier.
