The Turkish national carrier has placed an order with Boeing for 15 Boeing 737 aircraft worth $1.2 billion, Air and Business Travel News reported. The order includes 10 737-800s and five 737-900ERs, which is the next generation aircraft in the 737 family.

Higher capacity and capable of flying longer ranges, the 737-900ER currently offers 6% lower operating costs per trip than competing models.

Temel Kotil, Turkish Airlines’ CEO, said: "These new Boeing 737 aircraft will help us to reach even more cities and build a truly global network."

"We are very eager to have these new aircraft join the Turkish Airlines fleet—increasing efficiency, reliability and passenger comfort."
