The 76th Rose-Roth seminar of NATO PA will be held in Tbilisi, Georgia, on March 23-25. Head of the parliamentary delegation of Azerbaijan to NATO PA Ziyafat Asgarov and deputy of the Milli Majlis Siyavush Novruzov will take in the seminar.

The seminar will focus on the place of Caucasus in the world, integration of Georgia in Euro-Atlantic community, development of democracy in Georgia, media and civil society, regional security model, domestic policy and other issues.

The Rose-Roth programme of cooperation with the parliaments of Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) was initiated in 1990 by then President of the Assembly Congressman Charlie Rose and Senator Bill Roth.

The original aim of the Rose-Roth Initiative was to strengthen the development of parliamentary democracy in CEE countries. The seminars thus aimed to involve and integrate parliamentarians from CEE in Assembly activities; to promote a sense of partnership and co-operation at the legislative level; to improve mutual understanding among legislators of their various problems and perspectives; to familiarise legislators with key security and defence issues; to promote the development of appropriate civil-military relations, including the democratic control of armed forces; to share expertise and experience in parliamentary practice and procedures; to help the development of a parliamentary staff structure in the CEE parliaments, and thus provide CEE parliamentarians with administrative assistance comparable to their western counterparts.
