18 March 2011 [13:08] - TODAY.AZ
Georgia is an example of how a failed state can pass onto the path of success and prosperity due to reforms, Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili said at the U.S. Brookings Institute.

He compared the situation in the Middle East with post-revolutionary Georgia. Speaking about the revolution with the recent developments in the Middle East, Saakashvili made a number of interesting statements and comparisons.

"We did not have any textbooks about we should proceed with our revolution, but our African friends will," Saakashvili said, stressing that the Middle East should draw its own conclusions from the series of recent confrontations between the authorities and the people.

Replying to the question how the United States should respond to the events in the Middle East, he advised the Washington "not to remain silent."

"Every word pronounced here in Washington during these events has value," Saakashvili said.

Returning to the Rose Revolution, Saakashvili said "comprehensive reform" has led to fruition.
