Iranian artists to promote Novruz in foreign countries

17 March 2011 [16:24] - TODAY.AZ
Iranian artists will promote the culture and rituals of the celebration of Iranian New Year known as Noruz in 40 countries, Tehran Times reported.

The Iranian Affairs Abroad Department of the Islamic Culture and Relations Organization (ICRO) will dispatch 245 Iranian artists to different part of world to spread Noruz rituals in different countries.

They will be dispatched in different troupes to perform music, plays, satiric programs and programs for children during Noruz, the head of the department Morad Enadi related in a press conference on Tuesday.

A part of these celebrations of Noruz in other countries will be aired live on Jam-e Jam Channel and a part of it will be broadcast from Iranian national TV channels in the future, he said.

Cosponsored by the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance and governors of some provinces of Iran, selected regional rituals will be also performed in the foreign countries, he added.

The performances by renowned Iranian artists and art troupes would be helpful in promoting the culture of Noruz around the world, ICRO official Mohammad Sharif-Malekzadeh mentioned.

"Unfortunately the Persian culture and language is typically forgotten by the second or third generation of Iranians living abroad", he lamented.
