Russia, Turkey to discuss Samsun-Ceyhan pipeline on Friday

02 March 2011 [12:27] - TODAY.AZ
Russia and Turkey will discuss energy cooperation and a draft agreement on the implementation of the Samsun-Ceyhan oil pipeline on Friday, a member of a Russian-Turkish intergovernmental commission said, APA reports quoting RIA Novosti.

The Samsun-Ceyhan pipeline is designed to carry 60-70 million tons of oil per year from the Turkish port of Samsun on the Black Sea to a Mediterranean terminal in Ceyhan to ease tanker traffic in the Bosphorus and the Dardanelles straits.

Russia handed a new draft deal to the Turkish government in December, but it has yet to be approved.

Russian Deputy Prime Minister Igor Sechin said at the time that Russia and Turkey hoped to agree on investment in the Samsun-Ceyhan project before mid-March.
