01 March 2011 [14:22] - TODAY.AZ
The Poti International Airport will be the largest in the Caucasus, Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili said this week at the opening of the free economic zone.

The Poti International Airport will have the largest runway in the Caucasus.

"We have already established a modern radar system, and this will be the airport for both Batumi and Poti. Major tourist centers such as Mestia, Batumi and Poti will operate at the airport," Saakashvili said.

In his speech, he mentioned the country's modernization plan for 2015, according to which Poti’s population will hit at least 100,000, Batumi's – at least 250,000, and Kutaisi's – 250,000-300,000.

"By this time, Anaklia will become a very important center that will enable us to carry out substantial economic activity," Saakashvili said.
