A presentation of the Eurasian Expert Forum was held this week in Astana. Its founders are representatives of scientific and media outlets in Kazakhstan, Russia, Azerbaijan, Turkey, Israel, Great Britain, the Czech Republic, Latvia and other post-Soviet countries and the EU.

"The conceptual basis of our union is a commitment to the ideology of Eurasia based on principles of equality, mutual trust and cooperation," the members wrote in a memorandum signed upon the conclusion of the event.

The presentation was attended by Moscow State University Information and Analytical Center General Director Alexei Vlasov, Russian Vestnik Kavkaza analytical agency General Director Ismayil Agakishiyev, Trend News Agency General Director Ilgar Huseynov and Turkish Economics and Technology University Professor Togrul Ismail.

The establishment of the forum is important in terms of providing a correct assessment of processes in the region, Ilgar Huseynov said at a press conference following the event.

While answering questions from journalists, Huseynov noted that media outlets must take an active part in social networks and blogs.

"Today, journalism should be present not only when it comes to highly tailored topics, and media should not stand aloof when it comes to social networks," he said.

The Eurasian Expert Forum is an open community of the heads of analytical structures, news agencies and scientific institutions from Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Azerbaijan, Ukraine and other CIS countries, as well as Turkey, Israel and the EU.

These goals will be implemented within the following projects - the creation of a single information portal, the creation of intellectual products that are competitive in the format of a global expert community, the creation of permanently acting dialogue platforms and the involvement of young experts, political consulting, analytical maintenance of socially significant projects, holding sociological and marketing research, and training young specialists for informational and analytical markets.

The Eurasian Expert Forum is also open to new participants.
