“Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s visit to Azerbaijan will take place at the invitation of President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and for participation in the summit of the leaders of the Caspian littoral states in Baku”, Iranian ambassador to Azerbaijan Mohammad Bagir Bahrami told IRNA.
He said meetings to be held in Baku during the visit would launch a new phase in the international level and in the Azerbaijan-Iran relations.
“Certain documents are expected to be signed as result of sincere meetings during the visit. Some difficult issues in the regions should be resolved with the joint efforts of the regional countries. Other countries shouldn’t interfere in these issues. They don’t desire solution of the problems in the region because it is not in their favor. The issue of legal status of the Caspian Sea will also be resolved through the joint discussions of relevant organizations and leaders of five littoral states. Iran is among the countries which has influential force in the region and in the world. We can’t remain indifferent to the foreigners’ injustice in the region”.
The ambassador said according to the orders of the leaders of the two countries, economic and cultural cooperation programs were elaborated and certain work has been done in this field.
“Iran and Azerbaijan have joint historical links and there are no lingual, religious and cultural differences. We have more than 700 km of ground borders except sea borders. Iranian and Azerbaijani policies were established on the basis of domination of peace, stability and development in the region. The countries have good relationship as a result of mutual visits. Banking, energy, trade, cultural, construction, insurance, agricultural and other spheres are in high level”.
