Turkish Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Taner Yildiz attended Petkim Petrochemical Company of SOCAR-Turcas Joint Venture, met with representatives of Company management within his visit to Izmir. During the meeting, the Minister was informed on the Company`s projects for 2015, 2020 and 2040 years.
According to Mr. Yildiz, Turkey follows the projects implemented in Petkim. The works to be carried out and investing in Petkim will reduce imports of petroleum products.
The Minister pointed out that the proposal of Kenan Yavuz, Executive Director of SOCAR-Turcas and Petkim Member of the Board of Directors, to develop Petkim peninsula into a special industrial region will be discussed with the Ministry of Industry.
Afterwards, Turkish Minister of Energy and Natural Resources visited the place where SOCAR-Turcas plans to build a new refinery. He was briefed that the new refinery to ensure its demand in raw materials will provide reliable raw material base, which is now imported.
