Turkic-speaking states will celebrate 20th anniversary of independence together

The leaders of Turkic states of Central Asia and Azerbaijan's President decided to celebrate the 20th anniversary of independence gained after the collapse of the Soviet Union together in 2011, Turkish President Abdullah Gul said at the joint news conference today, the TRT Haber television channel reported.

The leaders come to this decision in the framework of the tenth Summit of Turkic-speaking states' leaders passing in Istanbul today. The leaders have decided to create the Cooperation Council of Turkic-speaking Countries (CCTC), with headquarters in Istanbul, with the aim of strengthening economic and trade relations and enhancing regional cooperation.

The summit approved a program for cultural cooperation between the Turkic-speaking states. In addition, the agenda includes the establishment of a consultative advisory body. The Council of Elders is expected to be led by head of the Turkish Presidential Secretariat Mustafa Isen. The 11th summit of the Turkic-speaking states' leaders will be held in Kazakhstan in 2011.
