Poll: More Armenians estimated to live outside the country, than in it

06 August 2010 [09:53] - TODAY.AZ
The desire to study or take part in a work-study program in another country or to move to another country permanently is the highest in Armenia, a Gallup poll has revealed. More Armenians are estimated to live outside the country than in it. Some 44 percent of the questioned in Armenia said they would like to move temporarily for work, while 39 percent said they would like to study abroad or move permanently.

The Gallup poll showed an estimated 70 million in CIS desire to migrate for either of these reasons or for both. Half has many -- approximately 30 million -- would like to leave their countries permanently.
