Iranian President Mahmud Ahmadinejad survives assassination attempt - UPDATE

04 August 2010 [13:50] - TODAY.AZ
Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad survived an assassination attempt, Lebanese Future TV reported quoting Iranian presidential administration.

A hand grenade was thrown on the convoy of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, who left for Hemedan to deliver a speech. A number of people have reportedly been wounded. Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has not been wounded. One has been detained in connection with the incident.

Dubai-based Al Arabiya cited its own sources as saying the bomb had hit a car carrying journalists and presidential staff.

Ahmadinejad appeared on live Iranian television at a sports stadium in the western city of Hamadan. He was apparently well and made no mention of any attack.

At the same time speaking to Press TV, an informed source in Iran's presidential office has rejected as false the reports of grenade attack on Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.
