Film about Kura River shot through EU funds

29 July 2010 [15:55] - TODAY.AZ
River Mtkvari (Kura River) is the main waterway in the South Caucasus and the common natural heritage for Armenia, Azerbaijan and Georgia. It will be demonstrated in a 20-minute documentary film funded by EU-based project "Hello Europe".

Film crew shot a 500-kilometer section of the Kura River to demonstrate beauty of the river and explore the environment from an inflatable boat. The three countries disputed over pollution of the river in the past. The situation improved after the EU's allocation of 3 million euros. It helped to establish a joint system of monitoring water quality.

This film is one of ten documentary films broadcasted by Georgia within the project "Hello Europe", ENPI said.

This project aims to increase mutual understanding between citizens of Armenia, Azerbaijan and Georgia. All 10 films were demonstrated on Georgian national and regional TV channels. Now they are available with English subtitles on a special website www.hello-europe.info.

"Hello Europe" was one of 12 projects funded by EuropeAid.
