Georgia-flagged ship detained in Genoa, Italy

Vessel "Jasmine" sailing under the flag of Georgia was detained in Genoa Port, Italy.
Owner of the ship is the citizen of Italy and the crew consists of Georgian citizens.

The ship was loaded with 1,700 tons of grains, although the naval administration imposed fine of EUR 3,600 for overweighting and technical shortcomings of the vessel on its owner.

Furthermore, the freight was damaged. The owner paid the fine, although later the Georgian sailors said, the owner had not paid to them for 6 months and the arrear was EUR 100 thousand.

The International Maritime Organization will protect the Georgian sailors' rights.
