Turkish aid group says about 800 on board Israel-attacked aid ship

31 May 2010 [14:07] - TODAY.AZ
Turkish humanitarian aid organization said Monday that there were about 800 passengers on board the aid ship attacked by Israeli navy.
Veysel Basar, a member of the executive board of the Human Rights and Freedoms (IHH) Humanitarian Aid Foundation, told the A.A that they established a crisis desk after Israeli navy intercepted a convoy of six aid ships.

"Before the interception, Israel cut our communication with the ships. There was a second source on board the ship and we received the video footage about the incidents from that source. In the video footage, we saw that Israeli troops boarded on the ship from a helicopter and boats. We also saw that the injured were grouped in the middle of the ship. We do not have certain information and controversial statements come from Israeli sources. There is also a six-month-old baby on board the ship," he added.

IHH and MAZLUMDER will make a joint press release together with the other international aid organizations later in the day.
