The Turkish, Iranian and Brazilian ministers met in the Iranian capital of Tehran on Sunday to discuss Iran's nuclear energy controversy. Iranian Foreign Minister Manuchehr Motaki hosted the trilateral meeting with Turkey's Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu and Brazilian Foreign Minister Celso Amorim.
The three ministers debated a common formula regarding uranium exchange during the two-and-a-half-hour meeting. Sources said the meeting took place in a positive atmosphere, and set the real aim of the meeting as finding a peaceful solution to the controversy.
Technical teams of the three countries still continue their meeting. The three ministers are expected to meet again later on Sunday.
After Iran and western countries could not get any result in their negotiations on uranium exchange, the Tehran administration launched initiatives to enrich 20 percent of its uranium on its own and the western countries debated possible new sanctions on Iran.
Turkey and Brazil, the two non-permanent members of the United Nations (UN) Security Council, object to new sanctions and try to find a peaceful and diplomatic solution to the issue.
