Turkey's PM opens exhibition on Ottoman imperial orders in Bosnia

Prime Minister Erdogan said, "Yunus Emre Institute has been making valuable contributions to promotion of Turkey and Turkey's history. I believe that it will become a leading institution in the world just like the Goethe Institute and Cervantes Institute."

Turkey's State Minister and chief negotiator for EU talks Egemen Bagis was also in attendance at the opening of the exhibition.

The cultural center in Sarajevo is the first branch of Yunus Emre Institution opened in a foreign country. Later, three other cultural centers were opened in Albania, Egypt and Macedonia to promote Turkey, Turkish language, art and history.

A Turkish poet and Sufi mystic, Yunus Emre was one of the first known Turkish poets to have composed works in the spoken Turkish of his own age, his diction remains very close to the popular speech of his contemporaries in Central and Western Anatolia. His poems, written in the tradition of Anatolian folk poetry, mainly concern divine love as well as human destiny.
