Armenian PM says government will pay off its debts

18 March 2010 [17:43] - TODAY.AZ
The Government of Armenia will pay off its debts to trade banks, Prime Minister of Armenia Tigran Sargsyan said at government session today.
The government today ruled to allocate 270 million AMD from the countr's deposit fund to the State Revenue Committee to pay off its debts to trade banks that it had accumulated due to the monthly state lottery draw of receipts from point-of-sale machines and the payments of those cash prizes during 2009.

According to Armenian Finance Minister Tigran Davtyan, with this ruling, the government discharges its debts in full.

The Armenian prime minister, in turn, mentioned that this decision is being made belatedly and that the complaints by the banks, who say that the government is not fulfilling its obligations, are, in fact, quite to the point.
