Despite economic crisis and falling GDP, the military budget of Georgia keeps growing.
Georgian government spends 4.56 per cent of the GDP for defense.
In 2009, USD 519 mln were allocated from budget for military needs.
It exceeds expenses of any other CIS member country.
Armenia is the second in the list with 4.07 per cent of GDP.
The aforesaid USD 519 mln does not include military and humanitarian aid fro the USA and NATO.
In the framework of the aid for recovery after August war Georgia has already received USD 1bn, out of them 50 mln are aimed for military purposes only.
The fact was confirmed by James Steinberg, the U.S. deputy Secretary of State.
