In his letter to Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC) Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad proposed to appoint an educated woman from one of the Islamic countries as the Deputy Secretary General.

"Islam attaches great importance to the faithful women and their role in society. Given the OIC's decision in connection with the increase of number of women in management, as well as to improve their status in the Islamic society, I propose to appoint an educated woman from the Islamic countries as your deputy," the letter says.
