Georgian State Minister for Diaspora Affairs to visit Azerbaijan

Georgian State Minister for Diaspora Affairs Papuna Davitaia will visit Azerbaijan in May, official of the Azerbaijan State Committee for Work with Diaspora Fuzuli Najafov said.

"The Georgian minister's visit aims to get acquainted with the situation of Georgians living in Gakh, Zagatala and Balakan regions of Azerbaijan. During the visit Georgian Minister will hold meetings with Chairman of State Committee of Azerbaijan for Work with the Diaspora Nazim Ibrahimov, and other officials," Najafov said.

Earlier, Georgian State Minister for Diaspora Affairs Papuna Davitaia said that according to unofficial information, over 1.6 million Georgians live outside of Georgia.

According to him, this figure does not include 1.6 million Georgians living in Azerbaijan and Turkey. Officially only 1,008, 207 Georgians living abroad have been registered.
