EBRD allocates 180 million euros to Georgia

European Bank of Reconstruction and Development has allocated 180 EURO for two grand projects in Georgia.
Some 80 millions of the assistance will be spent on the construction 500 kilo-watt power transmitting system from Georgia to Turkey.

With the rest 100 million EURO, EBRD co-finances the construction of a new railway route bypassing the central area of the city of Tbilisi.

The project's aim is to improve the efficiency and safety of rail operations within the city of Tbilisi enabling relocation and consolidation of the existing rail facilities located in the centre of the urban area.

This project will also provide an impetus for the redevelopment of freed up territories and reintegration of the city.

The relevant agreements were signed at the official meeting in the Ministry of Finance of Georgia today.

High-rank delegation of the EBRD is headed by the president Thomas Mirow.
