Turkey says budget deficit down in February

Turkish Ministry of Finance on Tuesday said Turkey's budget deficit in February fell %69.3 year-on-year down to 2,271 million Turkish liras (nearly $1.5 billion).
The country's budget deficit was down also in the first two months of this budget year to 5,392 million TL, marking a %47.9 year-on-year drop.

Government spendings in February totaled some 22.2 billion TL with a %13.6 drop against a budgetary income of 20.1 billion TL with a %8.7 increase.

Spendings in January-February period was 44.9 billion TL with a %0.7 increase and the income was up %15.5 to reach to 39.5 billion TL.

Primary surplus in February was 2,306 million TL and it was 5,274 million TL in the first two months of 2010.

Tax revenues were up %16.9 in February to 16.1 billion TL and they were also up %21 in January-February period to 33.4 billion TL.
