Turkish president says Turkish traces in Africa not colonialist

Turkish President Abdullah Gul said on Monday that African countries showed great interest and confided in Turkey very much.
Because Turkey is not a colonialist country, added Gul who spoke to reporters in Democratic Republic of Congo.

He expressed belief that Turkish businessmen would make investments more in African countries.

Stressing that there were Turkish traces from east to west of Africa, but those were not the traces of colonialism, Gul said that Turkey approached to the African continent with humanitarian responsibility.

He said that Turkey sent 35 tons of medical equipment to Democratic Republic of Congo recently.

Noting that northern countries were living in richness while African people were in poverty, Gul said that a big state should show interested not only itself but also the climate, poverty and other matters of the world.

Gul said that economy played the biggest role in positive image of Turkey in foreign countries, adding that Turkey pursued an influential foreign policy thanks to its strong economy.
