Iran, Azerbaijan vow to broaden cooperation on Caspian Sea

The Azeri president voiced satisfaction over mutual talks on drawing up a security pact on the Caspian Sea.

He said that continued talks will be useful for expansion of all-out relations between the Caspian Sea littoral states.

The president said that Azerbaijan does its best to study the agreement as soon as possible prior to the upcoming summit of leaders of the Caspian Sea littoral states which is due to be held in Baku later this year.

The Iranian envoy, for his part, highlighted friendly ties between the two sides and expressed the hope that talks on security of the Caspian Sea would be finalized as soon as possible.

Safari said that friendly ties of the Caspian Sea littoral states require collective contribution and cooperation of the five states.

Safari, leading an Iranian delegation is in Baku to attend the second round of security talks and cooperation between Caspian Sea littoral states.

The Islamic Republic of Iran, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan and Russia are to study and ink the draft on security agreement prior to third summit of leaders of the Caspian Sea states.
