Foreign Minister of Georgia Grigol Vashadze met Miguel Angel Moratinos, Foreign Minister of the Kingdom of Spain and Eu President on March 3.
As Grigol Vashadze stated after the press conference held after the meeting, Georgia’s state strategy of Georgia on the occupied territories was discussed on the meeting.

The sides also discussed ongoing agreements and issue of non-recognition of the occupied territories.

"Mr. Minister was the first to come to Georgia after the August war. He is a person who is on firm position of defending Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. His idea was to bring EU closer to Georgia and he has liberal share in it," Grigol Vashadze stated.

As Miguel Angel Moratinos stated, EU reiterates its support to Georgian sovereignty and territorial integrity.

He said that he met EU monitoring mission in Georgia today.

"The monitoring mission’s functions must be extended and as it must be able to conduct monitoring on the occupied territories as well,’ he noted.

He spoke about process of simplifying' visas with EU and noted that negotiations will start at short notice.

"It is important to strengthen relations between EU and Georgia. We support territorial integrity and sovereignty of Georgia. We want bilateral relations between Georgia and Russia to improve; it was the reason of our visit to Larsi. This will be a painful and long way. We know the effort put in the Geneva negotiations. We have heard information about the state strategy on the occupied territories. EU will study this document and fix its position. We may call for a conference to discuss this strategy,’ Miguel Angel Moratinos stated.
