Armenia mediated in opening of Russia-Georgia Upper Lars check point

Talks over the opening of Upper Lars checkpoint were held in Armenia under Yerevan’s mediation, Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian told a press conference.

“We can state that Upper Lars is a remarkable achievement primarily for Georgia, Russia and definitely Armenia,” he declared.

Chairman of the Union of Manufacturers and Businessmen of Armenia Arsen Ghazaryan noted that checkpoint opening will reduce period of cargo traffic from and to Armenia by half, as well as decrease transit cost by 25 percent.
