The Russian academician added, “Therefore, Iran should be convinced to cooperate with the international community through diplomatic ways and resorting to moves that would intrigue the ruling religious system to reply severely is to be abandoned.”
The Russian daily has also published an article by Peter Alexandrev, its political analyst, who believes, “Russia acts quite conservatively towards the sanctions issue against Iran and does not approve of them presently.”

Alexandrev has in his article quoted the Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov as saying that imposing more sanctions against would not lead to achieving any favorable results.

Lavrov adds, “On pretext of blocking the path for proliferation of nuclear weapons we do not wish to pursue other objectives, such as further segregation of Iran to an extent to leave negative effects over the status in that country.”
