French Minister of State for foreign trade Anne-Marie Idrac presented the medal of "Legion D'honneur" to Istanbul Chamber of Commerce Chairman Murat Yalcintas in Istanbul on Friday.
Speaking before the ceremony, Idrac said that Turkey-France economic relations proved to be resistant to global economic crisis, adding that France continued to invest in Turkey during the crisis. She added that French companies in Turkey were providing employment for 70,000 people.

Idrac also said that during her talks in Turkey, officials focused on cooperation opportunities especially in energy and logistics areas.

Idrac said that France would open an office of French Investment Agency in Istanbul soon.

Meanwhile, Yalcintas said that Turkish companies, which wanted to make investment in the EU countries, should invest in France.

He added that commercial and economic relations between Turkey and France boosted as of 2008 --the date Idrac started her term in office.

"Legion D'honneur" (National Order of the Legion of Honour) is a French order established by Napoleon Bonaparte in 1802. The Order is the highest award given by the French Republic for outstanding service to France, regardless of the social status or the nationality of the recipients.
