Windstorm unroofs buildings in Tbilisi, Gori

The windstorm that took place on Feb. 23 has inflicted serious damage to not only Tbilisi, but its surrounding settlements and the city of Gori, too.

One citizen was injured last night.

Guram Amirov, 35, fell down from the roof of the house when he was trying to repair it.

The man was hospitalized to the St. Michael Hospital, where Tbilisi vice mayor and the head of the municipal office of health care visited him and promised to cover the cost of the treatment.

Vice Mayor Mamuka Akhvlediani also visited various districts of the capital last night and talked with the people whose houses were damaged in the disaster.

In Gori the wind unroofed the fifth and the third public schools, where the studies were disrupted, however, no one has been injured.

Regional governor says the repair works are underway.

The wind has also damaged electricity wires. The special brigades are working to reconnect the disconnected districts in Tbilisi.
