NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen has touched the issue of Georgia's possible membership of the alliance in his speech at the Georgetown University, Washington.
Rasmussen said that NATO had not given up plans to accept Georgia and Ukraine but believes the countries should more actively to conduct reforms to fall in line with the criteria required for membership.
Rasmussen told a Georgian student in Washington's Georgetown University that the countries should conduct security and other reforms and reminded him the resolution of the Bucharest Summit.
He added that NATO has been holding active discussions with Georgia and Ukraine through bilateral working groups.
