US nuclear envoy meets officials in Turkey over Iran

Glyn Davies, the permanent representative of the United States to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), held talks with Turkish executives in Ankara and listened to their views regarding Iran's nuclear program.

Davies said he was in Turkey to listen to Turkish executives, "not to negotiate possible sanctions" to be imposed on Iran, or "to convince Turkey to impose sanctions".

The U.S. envoy said he considered Turkey's role constructive, and said he discussed the issue in a transparent and sincere way with Turkish executives.

Davies said he listened more than he talked, and he aimed to reflect the U.S. perspective on this issue.

The view that the United States had assumed a hostile attitude towards Iran was "not right", Davies said.

Davies said this should "not be perceived as U.S.-Iran conflict", but nuclear power was an issue concerning international system, international agencies and laws.

The U.S. envoy also appreciated Turkey's efforts to solve the problem.
