Spanish Senate President Javier Rojo said on Monday that Spain was supporting Turkey's full membership to the EU.
Speaking at a conference "Turkey-Spain: Common Vision for Peace, Stability and Prosperity" hosted by Nueva Economia Forum, Rojo said that Turkey would become closer to the EU as it fulfilled modernization process and reforms. He added that the relations between Turkey and Spain were on very good level.
Noting that talks between Turkey and the EU and the membership process would take long time, Rojo said that Spain should encourage this process.
Rojo said that Turkey was also an important mediator in the Middle East as well as a bridge to develop dialogue among cultures.
Stressing that Alliance of Civilizations project was an "investment in peace", Rojo said that this project would be an important element in international politics in the future.
Meanwhile, the second Turkey-Spain Interparliamentary Summit began in Madrid. Ten ministers from Turkey and six from Spain are participating in the summit.
