Turkey's FM talks to Clinton on phone over Iran nuclear talks

Turkey's Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu expressed his impressions of his recent to Iran during his phone talk with U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton on Wednesday night.

"Also, Turkey's Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan will discuss this issue with U.S. President Barack Obama," Davutoglu told reporters.

Davutoglu said diplomatic channels were open, and the only open channel was carried out through Turkey and there was an opportunity for a democratic move.

The minister said Turkey and the United States were in contact, and there were concrete proposals.

Also, diplomatic sources said that it was possible to solve Iran's nuclear energy controversy through diplomatic channels in the light of Davutoglu's talks in Tehran.

Ankara suggests both Iran and the United States to refrain from rhetoric escalating the tension, and also lays down concrete proposals for solution of the problem.

Davutoglu is expected to speak to U.S. National Security Adviser James Jones on the phone in a short time within the scope of ongoing Ankara-Tehran-Washington D.C. process.

Minister Davutoglu will receive U.S. Under Secretary of State for political affairs Bill Burns in Ankara on Thursday afternoon.
