Estonia wants to see Georgia in NATO

13 February 2010 [12:22] - TODAY.AZ
NATO should remain open for admission of new members, including Georgia and Ukraine, believes Urmas Paet, Foreign Minister of Estonia.
"Past week the Alliance was reinforced by two new members - Albania and Croatia, in the end of the year Montenegro joined the Membership Action Plan of NATO. We hope that Bosnia and Herzegovina will be granted MAP this spring at the meeting of NATO member countries' Foreign Ministers in Tallinn," Paet said.

"We also support Macedonia's soonest admission and efforts of Georgia and Ukraine on integration in the Alliance. I'll add that in 2008 decision was made that Ukraine and Georgia can become the members of the Alliance and this decision remains valid," said the Minister.

At the NATO summit in Bucharest in 2008 it was announced that Ukraine and Georgia would be the Alliance members, yet they were refused to join MAP.
