Armenia-Polish intergovernmental commission to be established

On Feb. 10, Armenian Deputy Foreign Minister Karine Ghazinyan left for a 2-day visit to Warsaw to hold political consultations with Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The same day, she had a meeting with Deputy Economy Minister of Poland Marcin Korolec, responsible for Poland’s cooperation with the European Union (EU).

She informed Korolec of the Armenia-EU economic cooperation agreements promoted by the EU Eastern Partnership program.

The Armenian Deputy Foreign Minister pointed out importance of negotiations over a free trade agreement conducted under the program.

Korolec offered the Armenian side expert assistance in drafting the documents.

The Polish side also welcomed the Armenian side’s proposal for forming an Armenian-Polish intergovernmental commission and offered that commission holds its maiden meeting in Yerevan in 2010, and the second in Warsaw in 2011, when Poland takes over the EU presidency.
