Pakistani Parliament Speaker Ms. Fahmideh Mirza met on Thursday with Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.
At the meeting, President Ahmadinajad said that enemies and ill-wishers seek to disrupt security of Pakistan and the entire region, adding that regional countries mainly Iran and Pakistan under current sensitive circumstances should draw up a joint security program to thwart all conspiracies hatched by the enemies.
Existing ties and relations between Iran and Pakistan are very profound and durable, President Ahmadinejad said.
Tehran and Islamabad as two neighbors share many commonalities and common interests and expansion of relations and cooperation is among responsibilities of both sides’ officials, he said.
“The enemies try to shatter brotherly relations between the two countries but I am quite confident that the vigilance of both nations will thwart their plots,” underlined the president.
Since the aliens seek to promote insecurity in the region, it is necessary for both sides’ officials to adopt a joint program and exchange views to seriously deal with them, he pointed out.
The bullying powers now facing political and economic problems try to promote insecurity to solve their own problems, said President Ahmadinejad.
They have trained terrorists and fully support them and under pretext of campaign against terrorism they try to dictate their views to all nations in the region, he said and advised all nations of the region to exercise vigilance in dealing with their plots.
To successfully handle the current situation, the countries of the region should make collective decisions and exchange views prior to taking action, underlined the Iranian president.
It is vital to seriously fight terrorism and extremism in the region through political, cultural and economic programs, he said.
To attain the goal, it is necessary to conduct a comprehensive and all-out political campaign, he said.
It is necessary that the two sides increase current volume of their trade exchange and remove existing obstacles and red-tapes to this effect, he said.
The Pakistani parliament speaker, for her part, said that Pakistan calls for expansion and consolidation of all out ties and cooperation with the Islamic Republic of Iran.
Iran and Pakistan have adopted common stands on many regional developments, she said, adding that Pakistan fully backs an independent Iran and its peaceful nuclear program.
Pakistan has avoided approving decisions made or resolutions issued by IAEA against Iran, she pointed out.
There are many areas of eonomic and commercial cooperation between the two countries which should be explored, she said and called for removal of existing problems to this end.
