Kazakhstan opened an honorary consulate in the Aegean city of Izmir on Tuesday.

Turkish National Defense Minister Vecdi Gonul and Kazakh Ambassador to Turkey Baghdad Amreyev participated in the inaugural ceremony.
"I hope this consulate will be a new strong bridge between Turkey and Kazakhstan," Gonul said.
Amreyev said Turkey and Kazakhstan had a strategic partnership agreement, and it was natural for the two countries to have same political and economic goals.
