Spanish city awards Turkey's PM for global peace role

Alfredo Sanchez Monteseirin, Mayor of Sevilla, the capital city of Andalucia conferred "Nodo entre Culturas" award to Turkish PM Erdogan for his "important role" in activating Alliance of Civilizations project.
Sevilla conferred "Nodo entre Culturas" award to Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan for his "important role" in activating Alliance of Civilizations project.

Alfredo Sanchez Monteseirin, Mayor of Sevilla, the capital city of Andalucia, said this year Turkish Premier Erdogan would be given the award "Nodo entre Culturas" (Sevilla, Link Between the Cultures).

In an exclusive interview with the A.A. correspondent, Monteseirin said the jury members, comprising of distinguished members of the "Sevilla East-West Relations Foundation", decided to confer the award to Erdogan for his important role in activating Alliance of Civilizations project, his contributions to international security and peace, and over his role in boosting cooperation and friendly ties among the peoples in resolution of international conflicts.

Monteseirin said Erdogan was foreseen to arrive Sevilla a day before Spain-Turkey intergovernmental summit scheduled to take place in Madrid at the end of February and attend award giving ceremony.

"Sevilla, Nodo entre Culturas" award was earlier given to former U.N. Secretary General Kofi Annan, good-will envoy of UNICEF Mia Farrow, and International Atomic Energy Agency chairman Mohammad al Baradei.

A genuiene stauette of artist Ben Jessef and 30,000 USD would be given to Erdogan as award.
