Larijani: Iran's nuclear program poses no threat to neighbors

07 January 2010 [15:48] - TODAY.AZ
Iranian Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani said Wednesday evening that Iran’s peaceful nuclear program does not pose any threat to its neighboring countries.
Larijani made the remarks in a meeting with his visiting Bahraini counterpart Khalifa al-Dhahrani.

Larijani reiterated that the Islamic Republic’s military capabilities are only based on preventive and defensive purposes.

Voicing Majlis support for promotion of all-out bilateral cooperation with Bahrain, he reiterated that the enemies could not damage the existing friendly ties between the two states.

Meanwhile, the visiting Bahraini speaker said Iran’s nuclear activities are “peaceful”.

He opined NPT member states, including Iran, have right to pursue peaceful nuclear technology.
