Georgian parliament adopts constitutional amendments

The Georgian parliament adopted the constitutional amendments by 111 votes in the first reading.

Under the amendments, if the population supports tax increases in referendum, the decision will come into force in four years.  Referendum would decide change of all taxes except excise taxes.

The government regards these amendments as the protection of business interests.
