16 November 2024 [21:35] - TODAY.AZ

SpaceX President Gwynne Shotwell has announced that the company plans to significantly increase the number of Starship launches during the presidency of Donald Trump, who won the recent U.S. election. According to Shotwell, the number of launches could reach as high as 400 over the next four years, Azernews reports.

At an investor event, Gwynne Shotwell, the longtime president of SpaceX and a close deputy to Elon Musk, said that she would not be surprised if the company carried out 400 Starship launches over the course of the next presidential term. This ambitious goal reflects SpaceX's growing capabilities and the potential for a new era of space exploration and commercial spaceflight.

The Starship, SpaceX's next-generation spacecraft, is designed to carry both crew and cargo to destinations including the Moon, Mars, and beyond. The spacecraft is integral to SpaceX's long-term vision of enabling human settlement on other planets, a vision that has gained considerable attention with Musk's plans to colonize Mars.

Shotwell's statement highlights the rapid progress SpaceX has made in advancing reusable rocket technology and the company's increasing role in the future of space travel. With each launch, the company is pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in space exploration, and 400 launches could accelerate the development of the Starship into a true workhorse for interplanetary travel.
