Minimum wage raise in Britain

Next year, the minimum wage in the UK will rise to 12.21 pounds per hour, Azernews reports.

Finance Minister Rachel Reeves announced that the minimum wage in England will be raised in April next year. The Finance minister confirmed that hourly wages for workers over the age of 21 will rise to 12.21 pounds per hour ahead of the budget announcement on October 30.

The minimum wage for workers over the age of 21 will rise by 6.7% from April 2025, from £11.44 to £12.21 per hour. For workers aged 18-20, the minimum wage will rise from 8.60 to 10 pounds. Although the government has announced that more than three million workers will benefit from this increase, employers have noted that these additional costs may lead to the need to reduce the number of employees.
