Mitsubishi, Atomix, JICA implement number of projects in Uzbekistan

The 14th meeting of the Uzbek-Japanese and Japanese-Uzbek Economic Cooperation Committees, organized by the State Investment Committee of Uzbekistan, with the support of the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Japan, was held in Tokyo, UzDaily.uz reported.

More than 180 representatives of Japanese business circles representing 52 companies, including Mitsubishi, Marubeni, Sumitomo, Itochu, Toyota, Kawasaki, Sozhitz Corporation, Mitsui, Nissan, Hitachi, and others took part in a discussion of prospects for cooperation with Uzbekistan.

Following the results of the meeting, the documents were signed on the implementation of joint projects in the area of electric power industry, petrochemical industry, and light industry with the Mitsubishi Corporation, Atomix company, as well as with the JICA agency.

The agreement was reached with the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) on joint implementation of projects in the telecommunications sector.

The agreement signed between Sumitomo Mitsui Bank and the NBU Bank will open up new opportunities for the implementation of the Uzbek-Japanese economic projects.

For the period from January to September 2018, the trade turnover between Japan and Uzbekistan amounted to more than $300 million.

At present, 17 enterprises with participation of Japanese investments, including seven companies with 100-percent Japanese capital are functioning on the territory of Uzbekistan.
