Tbilisi hosts the International Congress and Convention Association forum

The two-days international meetings forum of the International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA) has been opened in Tbilisi by the Prime Minister of Georgia, Mamuka Bakhtadze, Agenda reports.

The forum delegates have discussed the development perspectives of business and MICE (meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions) tourism.

While delivering his keynote speech at the meeting Minister of Economy, Giorgi Kobulia has emphasised the importance of tourism sector for Georgian economy.

“Every year the number of tourists coming to Georgia is twice as much as the total population of the country and with this number we are ahead of several european countries,” he said.

He has also described the plans of the Georgian government aimed at improvement of the service quality in the hospitality sector, development of the tourist infrastructure and increase of the number of direct flights to the country.
