Iran's foreign minister said that the issue of abduction of Iranian border guards, as well as measures to be taken, have been discussed with Pakistani officials, IRNA reports.

The embassies of the two countries, as well as their defense and interior ministers are closely following the issue of the abducted Iranian border guards, Mohammad-Javad Zarif said.

The terrorist group, calling itself Jaish ul Adl, has claimed the responsibility for kidnapping 14 Iranian guards on October 16.

The foreign minister also noted that the Pakistani government is responsible since the perpetrators fled into the country and the abductees are being kept in Pakistan as well.

The Pakistani government has said that Islamabad is willing to cooperate with Iran on the issue, the foreign minister added.

Zarif also said that the suggestion of increasing the number of Pakistani border guards was discussed, adding that Iran has a good presence at the common border.

He noted that following a previous incident on the shared border, Pakistan increased its forces, but it has vowed again to add the number.
