The IAEA continues to verify Iran’s compliance with its nuclear obligations and carried out the necessary verification of all sites and facilities in Iran that required it.

This was announced by the general director of the agency, Yukiya Amano, RIA Novosti reported on October 2.

Earlier, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told the UN that Israeli intelligence had discovered a secret warehouse in Tehran with tons of nuclear equipment and materials, and showed a satellite image and a photograph of the wall with an iron gate.

Amano said that the IAEA continues to verify Iran’s compliance with its obligations under the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) on the nuclear program.

“As I stated in my reports to the IAEA Board of Governors, assessments regarding the absence of undeclared nuclear materials and Iran’s activity continue. The Agency continues to evaluate Iran’s statements according to the ad-protocol, and provided additional access to all places and facilities in Iran that it needed to visit,” said Amano, the press service of the IAEA reported.

Since 1958, Iran has been a member of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

Iran and the five permanent members of the United Nations Security Council – the U.S., the UK, France, China and Russia – plus Germany signed the landmark nuclear deal on July 14, 2015 and on July 20, 2015, the UN Security Council adopted a resolution in support of this document. The agreement entered into force on January 16, 2016.

The document limits Iran’s nuclear activities in exchange for, among other things, the removal of all nuclear-related bans against the Islamic Republic. In accordance with the agreements reached, Iran will undertake to have no more than 300 kg of uranium. The country also committed to keep uranium enrichment at 3.67 percent.
