The main partners of Tajikistan in the export of goods are Kazakhstan, Turkey, Uzbekistan and Afghanistan, Avesta news agency reported.

Kazakhstan accounts for 27.7 percent of total export of goods, while for Turkey this indicator is 25.1 percent, according to the Tajik Statistics Agency. Non-ferrous products, primary aluminum and cotton fiber are mainly exported to these countries.

In total, in January-August 2018, the exports to Kazakhstan amounted to more than $ 197 million and imports - more than $ 356.2 million.

The volume of trade with Turkey in the reporting period amounted to more than $ 268 million. Of these, more than $ 178.6 million fell for exports of goods and more than $ 89.3 million for imports of various products.

However, in the total volume of trade with foreign countries, Russia ranks first. The trade turnover between Tajikistan and Russia in January-August amounted to more than $ 651.9 million.

The list of the main exported goods includes primary aluminum, cotton fiber, precious metals and dried fruits.

Tajikistan’s foreign trade turnover has had a negative balance for a long time, and imports into the country significantly exceed exports.

In the mentioned period, Tajikistan imported goods from Russia (29.6 percent), Kazakhstan (16.9 percent) and China (18.8 percent).

For eight months of the current year, the exports of goods amounted to $ 712.5 million, while imports totaled over $ 2.1 billion.

Earlier, Tajikistan established an Export Development Agency with the aim to enhance the country’s export potential. The agency will seek partners and consumers for Tajik exports abroad.
