Iran’s Army, IRGC to carry out joint drill in Persian Gulf

The Iranian Army and the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) will conduct a joint aerial military drill near strategic Strait of Hormuz in the Persian Gulf tomorrow.

The drill would involve the military and IRGC’s fighter jets, including F-4, Mirage and Sukhoi-22, IRNA news agency reported on September 21.

Five logistics and combat helicopters will also take part in the exercise over the Persian Gulf waters and the Sea of Oman.

“In addition to a show of strength, this ceremony is a message of peace and friendship for friendly and neighboring countries,” Colonel Yousef Safipour, the deputy commander of the army for public relations said, the report added.

“And if the enemies and arrogant powers have an eye on the borders and land of Islamic Iran they will receive a stern response in the fraction of a second.”
